Our Story
Founded in 1953 by Mohammed Khalilur Rahman, MKR Group began with a vision to anchor Bangladesh in global trade through maritime innovation. Chalna port which later on developed as Mongla port. His work laid the foundations of an industry that powered a nation’s growth. Today, MKR has grown far beyond shipping into a diversified enterprise—driven by innovation, exploring new frontiers, and building global partnerships that shape the future of trade and industry.

Pioneered bulk food grain lighterage with PL-480, World Food Programme (WFP), CARE, USAID, and several donor agencies, including landmark wheat operations in 1984.

Extended Bangladesh's reach during the PL-480 aid programmes, managing mother vessels and lightering operations in Bangladesh and South Asian countries.
